Help for families with disabled children and children at risk of disability
Therapeutic family support is an intensive, outpatient support service in which a child and/or a parent has a disability. The focus is on holistic support and support for the entire family in order to compensate for developmental deficits, manage conflicts and create a stable environment for the child.
Who is the help for?
Therapeutic family support is aimed at families with children who have special needs or diagnosed disabilities, particularly in the following areas:
Social and emotional behavior
interaction within the family
language and communication skills
coping with everyday problems
development of independence and ability to act
Families in the districts of Hameln-Pyrmont, Schaumburg, Holzminden
This offer is particularly suitable if the child's upbringing is impaired by family conflicts, developmental delays, disabilities or social difficulties.
How do we help?
Therapeutic family support works directly in the family and is oriented towards the individual needs of the family members. Our support includes:
advice and support in educational matters
support in coping with everyday life
Support in dealing with crises and conflicts
Advice and support on questions regarding the disability/impairment and/or developmental delay
Strengthening parental skills and promoting a positive parent-child relationship
Help to integrate the child into his or her environment
Accompaniment to doctor's appointments, special education diagnostics and support services
What is the aim of the help?
Our goal is to strengthen the family as a whole and to offer the child optimal conditions for development. In concrete terms, this means:
Understanding of the child in the special situation is developed
Building and strengthening parental parenting skills
Expanding family strengths and resources
Promoting the child's social and emotional development
Improving communication and cohesion within the family
Support in coping with everyday life and promoting the child's independence
Ensuring a stable and supportive environment for the child

How do I get help?
Therapeutic family support can be applied for through the responsible youth welfare office (in the district of Hameln Pyrmont, the “Office for Youth and Inclusion”). The costs are usually covered within the framework of “help with education” according to the Social Code (§ 27 and § 31 SGB VIII). The specific support needs are determined together with the youth welfare office and a suitable form of help is agreed upon.
